Middle of Somewhere

Middle of Somewhere came from a place of searching for recluse during the chaotic moments of life. I wanted to echo the stillness and quiet nature of the world I have become familiar with when staying up past 2am. Photographing that late at night opened the possibilities of what I could capture with my camera without the interruption of traffic and people. An interest in the beauty of illuminated subjects against the stark black of the night sky seemed to develop. The minimal lighting provided by streetlights obscures backgrounds making for a feeling of isolation and creates a peculiar scene to spark the imagination. In this body of images, I wanted to express my childlike wonder for the flora and fauna that surrounds me every day and invite the viewer to do the same.
